Picnic at the Park

Yesterday was the last day of school for Payson High, and Dean only had a half day of school. The weather was beautiful, so we decided to venture outside for a picnic at the park. We used to do this all the time in Provo, but we haven't really had a chance since being here in Spanish Fork. (Being pregnant, winter, and having a newborn all made it difficult.) We went to a little park behind our city library and enjoyed some chicken sandwiches and the shade. And of course we took a few pictures too.

Mom and her boy (if you look close you can see a bug on Tanner's head ;))

These two sure love each other, check out those smiles!

I totally LOVE this picture of Dean and Tanner with his sunglasses!

It's a little tough to get a "family" picture by yourselves

Tanner's getting SO big already!

Rube Goldberg II

So here is the last Rube Goldberg Machine from school. This is my 8th period class. I had more time to put together a video. Hope you like it.

New Haircut

So for my birthday (in February) Dean gave me a giftcard for a salon to go get my hair cut. I was excited to just go all out and make a big change, however, Tanner was born four days later and that sort of made it more difficult to make it to get my hair cut. So this weekend I actually went through with it. Since I had the giftcard since February I've thought a lot about how I wanted it, etc. and I decided I might as well go super short and donate my hair too. So I ended up cutting about 10 or 11 inches and this is the final result...

So I actually really like it, and Dean loves it! Oh and the craziest thing was that the girl who cut my hair is moving to Pittsburgh in a few months and is having a little boy, which is freakishly similar to me. I already have a little boy and chances are I'm moving to Pittsburgh in August. So surprise to those who haven't heard our latest plans. It's not set in stone but it's looking likely that we'll be heading back east.

Memorial Day Weekend

So we had an eventful weekend with lots of time with family and friends. Friday night we went to a little goodbye party for our next door neighbors the Fergusons who left this week for a big move to Samoa. We've really enjoyed having them as neighbors and are pretty sad to see them go. I'm always sad lately just knowing that Julia and Tyler aren't next door. We'll miss game nights and just the occasional run next door to chat. We're excited for them though and hope they love Samoa. Saturday we headed up to Fruit Heights to spend the weekend with our family. On the way we made a stop in Draper at a salon so I could get my haircut. I was able to cut enough to donate it, and I was nervous to go so short, but it turned out great (see later post)!

Mom and Dad were nice enough to keep an eye on Tanner so that Saturday night Dean and I could go out to eat. I knew having a kid would make alone time with Dean fewer and farther between, but man do I miss being able to just "go out" whenever we felt like it. So it was really nice to get out together.

Sunday, Dan and Lesli blessed Thomas. Dan gave a really beautiful blessing, and we were glad we all got to be there for that. It's been so fun having so many babies around. After the blessing we all got together at Grandma Leavitt's for a goodbye party for my uncle Justin who is being deployed in Afghanistan for the next 15 months. I was so glad we got to see him before he left and we're grateful to him for his willingness to serve. After the little gathering at Grandma's we headed up to the cabin for Sunday night and Monday (Memorial Day). My entire family was there and we had a TON of fun together. We watched movies, played games, tied a quilt for Jake, and celebrated Kev's 16th birthday.

Dean took the opportunity to try out the new camera and took some pictures of us out around the cabin.

It sure was nice to get away and have a break from regular life. Dean will finish up the school year this week, so maybe we'll get more opportunities to do a few fun things this summer. Anyway, here are a bunch of pictures of everyone at the cabin.

Like Father Like Son

Last Saturday Dean and Tanner matched down to their sandals and it was WAY too cute not to get pictures of. The weather was beautiful, so we took advantage of it and got a few outside.
I thought Dean would feel dumb or think it was lame to be completely matching, but he LOVED having his boy look just like him. He's such a good dad and he sure loves his little guy. I'd be thrilled if Tanner turns out just like him!

Rube Goldberg Machine

So maybe I am an over excited physics teacher, but I am really proud of my students for putting this together. The goal was to fry an egg. I have another one to post later on so stay tuned. I don't claim to be the best video editor, but I did my best.

Pouty Boy

Tanner has the cutest little pouty face! I often feel bad when he's upset and I just start laughing at him because it's so funny! We caught a pretty good picture of it the other night, so we thought we'd share it with all of you.

He was upset because he was tired and this picture was just a few minutes later zonked out in his car seat swing. Don't you think he's super cute in these jammies!? (Thanks to Alicia I believe!)

Poop

So as you all know I am a mom now, and along with that comes the enjoyable responsibility of scrubbing poop stains out of countless baby clothes. That's not something I can't handle. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to have a kid. My problem is that no matter how long I soak, how much I scrub, and how many different cleaning products I use, Tanner's poop just doesn't want to come out! Now, most of the clothes that get poop on them are just white onesies that he wears under his clothes anyway, so no one but me would really know about the stain. But for those of you who know me very well you'd know that I can't stand that! So this is my desperate cry for help. I don't know if I just have a baby with super poop that is impossible to clean out or what, but any advice on what works best would be much appreciated. Until then I'll be at the sink scrubbing poop some more.

Shopping with a baby...

So since becoming a mom I notice other mom's a lot more than I used to. I'm personally wondering at what point you become "super". As I'm out with Tanner I feel like I'm barely keeping it together, trying to juggle him, his car seat, the diaper bag, my purse, and keep my pants from falling down as I seem to have a no butt issue. :) Then I look around and see these mom's with four kids who must be under the age of four and they glide gracefully through the store with ease. I hoping it just comes with experience, cause I for sure don't have it yet. So if you see me out in public please just smile and try not to stare.

(p.s. thank you Nathan for the image)
