Leavitt Reunion 2017

Every year we plan our trip to Utah around when the Leavitt Reunion will be.  It's really important to me that my boys get to know their extended family.  Especially since we live far from so many of them.  There's nothing quite like three days of full time family time to solidify bonds.  This year Sue and Justin were in charge and it was held at an old school that has been converted to a reunion home in Idaho.  That meant there was a full gym, complete with a rock wall.  It had a giant kitchen with a walk-in fridge and freezer.  A pond for fishing and a pool and hot tub for swimming.  They even let us use two giant inflatables for one of the days.  We're up to a whopping 106 Leavitts these days and Sue did a great job of helping us all to know what number we are in the family and how it all began with my incredible grandparents.  We had the usual cousin birthday party complete with a gift exchange and Grandma's cake and cookies.  And the highlight of the whole thing was probably the full-blown carnival Sue and Justin put on.  Down to the smallest detail it was the real-deal.  One of the nights Uncle Jake found an abandoned baby bird and after that Tanner felt it was his duty to mash worms and feed it to him.  Dean and I managed to sneak away one afternoon for a motorcycle ride.  The view was gorgeous!  Poor Bridger ended up with a super high fever most the time we were there and so Dean and I spent much of our time taking turns holding him.  Braddock managed to hook himself while fishing and Dean had to remove the treble hook from his arm.  Yikes!  And our air conditioning went out on our van on the drive there so we ended up leaving a night earlier than planned so we could get home without putting a fevering baby in a million degree car.  But all those mishaps are what memories are made of right!?  We feel incredibly blessed to be a part of such an amazing family.  Grandma and Grandpa sure have laid a wonderful foundation for all of us to build on.
Fishing

Tanner finally caught his much anticipated fish.  He even did it while wearing his balloon hat which he lovingly dubbed "Turdy the Turtle."

Playing

I totally creamed Tanner at our obstacle course race.  It "may" have been because I cheated. I couldn't be shown up by a 9 year old!

Rock Climbing

Landon was a champ.  He kept at it and kept at it until he had scaled the whole wall.

Even Grandma did some climbing.

To finish things up we had to snap a picture of these cuties all grown up.  Hard to believe they're all 7 now!

Picnic and Liberty Park Splash Pad

In July Rachel was coming through our neck of the woods with Graycee and Eli on their way to her Mom's house.  She had the great idea to meet up in Salt Lake for lunch at the park so that Eric and Morgan could swing by on their lunch break from school at the U.  After they had to head back, the rest of us headed on over to Liberty Park to check out the splash pad there.  The kids had a blast with their cousins and it was kinda fun reminiscing about taking our engagement photos at that very park 11+ years ago.  Man how time flies.  We sure were glad Rachel, Eli, and Graycee were able to squeeze us in.  We don't see near enough of them now that they live all the way in Washington!

And one of our engagement photos just for fun...
