Dying Easter Eggs

I've been known to be a stress case when it comes to potentially messy situations.  But as the years have passed I've learned to let go a bit, and as the boys have gotten older, dying eggs has become easier.  So this year we embraced it and let their imaginations take over.  It's always fun to see what creative things they come up with.  I scored some extra cheap dye packages at Salvation Army so we had lots more dye to go around and that seemed to help everyone keep from fighting over things a little better than usual.  And my favorite eggs of all were the sweet one Landon made that said, "I Love Jesus" and Tanner's egg with a lamb on it that said "Lamb of God."  I'm glad the true reason for the holiday is sinking in and that they find ways to remember Him even during the more secular celebrations.  Grateful to have this crazy crew for eternity thanks to our Savior and His miraculous resurrection.

Tanner found a way to include pipettes in his decorating.  He's a scientist to the core.

Couldn't skip out on this strange tradition.

And on occasion this pup is actually calm and sweet.  Baby steps.

Brunton Dairy

Braddock's class got to go to a local dairy farm on a fieltrip a week ago.  I was lucky enough to tag along and enjoy the morning with him and his friends.  It was cool to learn about the whole cow raising/milk making process.  But the best part was drinking the yummy chocolate milk at the end of the tour!  We're actually friends with some of the Brunton's so it was great to visit with them and see where the magic all happens.  Can't beat farm fresh milk and a day with my Braddock.

I love tagging along on fieldtrips and spending extra time with this cutie.

The kids were WAY more into the dogs than they were the cows.  Haha!

Did you know the milk comes out of the cow at 102 degrees Fahrenheit!?

This little guy was only two weeks old!

The new babies are kept near their nursing momma's.

Sampling some chocolate milk, best part of the whole day!  YUM!

Karate

This year at the elementary school, they put on several after school activities.  There were lots to choose from, but Karate was the clear choice, and Braddock and Landon were both super excited for it to start.  It was a six week program and by the end they were busting boards like pros.  Before the whole thing even began we knew the graduation at the completion of the program would be on a Sunday.  We informed the boys that they wouldn't be able to attend the graduation, but that they could participate in the after school portion of things.  Well, the very first day, Landon marched up to the sensei and told him that he and Braddock wouldn't be able to attend a Sunday graduation because we save Sundays for Church and family, so Mr. H changed the whole ceremony to a Saturday!  I was so proud of Landon for being brave and standing up for our standards.  He's such a cool kid.  Their big graduation fell on the same day as the Primary Easter Activity and the Cunningham's Easter Egg Hunt, so it made for a packed day, but it was awesome to watch the boys show off what they had learned and see them break boards in person.  Braddock broke his with his hand, and Landon did a round kick and snapped that thing right in half.  They got their new gee's and received their white belts.  The whole thing was pretty impressive especially for just six short weeks of instruction.  Way to go boys!

Cunningham's Egg Hunt

After the Primary Activity, we had a blast at the Cunningham's annual Easter Egg Hunt again this year.  The weather was so warm and the rain held off, so it turned out perfectly!  The kids each got to color a bunny bag before heading out on their search.  There were SO MANY EGGS that they each found a ton.  We ate pizza and tried out a few Indy Day (the Elementary School Field-Day) games that Jena put together and just had fun socializing.  Bridger found a worm in the dirt pile which led to a full blown worm hunt by all the kiddos.  Pretty fun!  We're sure grateful for good friends.
