Home Sweet Nelson Home

Well, here we go on a tour of our new digs. Right now it's just pictures, but I took video too that I'll do my best to post before the weekend is over. Hope this gives you some idea of what it looks like. I've had LOTS of requests for pictures so here it goes...

This is the oustside -
we live in a trailer(on the right)with
a garage/laundry room/living room added on

We LOVE having a two car garage!
We also have a wood burning stove - we haven't used yet but it's a cheap way to heat the house with all the wood around here. And a HUGE laundry room.

Our kitchen isn't huge
but it actually has
a LOT of cupboard space.
We have all the standard
stuff and we even have a
dishwasher. Just a small disclaimer that it's a little cluttered in these pictures, but we were cooking a bunch in preparation for Mom and Dad and Jake to come visit.

Here's our living room and hallway.
Dean's snoozing on the couch and
Tanner's annoyed that I'm taking
pictures and not playing with him.

Here's Tanner's room. He's a big boy
and sleeps great in his crib! He
adjusted really quickly to our new place.

Here's a couple pictures of the bathroom.
We only have one, but that's fine for now.

Last but not least is our bedroom.
We wish our closet was bigger, but we'll deal.

So there you have it. We are living in a trailer - something I never dreamed I'd do, but we're grateful for a place that suits our needs and allows us to save up for something a little more permanent in the future.

Our first visitors...

We were lucky to have Mom, Dad and Jake come visit us for four days over this past weekend. It was sad to see them go, but we had a ton of fun while they were here. Saturday was supposed to be a trip to Sandusky, Ohio to Cedar Point Amusement Park, but because of some airport delays they didn't end up getting in until 2:15 am, making it less enticing to wake up early to head out in the cold on a long drive to Ohio. Instead we decided to watch the BYU game and go on a fall drive. We played some games and just enjoyed the day around here. Sunday we went to church and enjoyed a delicious meal at Dean's parent's house. It was fun to get to visit with all the family. Despite some bad weather and a few changes of plans, we made it to the Pittsburgh Zoo on Monday. It was chilly, but turned out to be a blast. Dean had to be at school, but he got to come meet us Monday evening at Station Square where we rode the inclines and saw the city scape. Then we all went to get Pittsburgh "Almost Famous" Primanti Brothers Sandwiches (sandwiches with coleslaw and french fries on them). Tuesday's weather was pretty rainy and bad, so we drove around town to see the High School that Dean teaches at and the city park. We had dinner and goodbyes and then they were off for the airport Tuesday night. We miss them already, and we're SO glad they got to come visit! So, who's next!?

A little HALLOWEEN fun

Our ward here has an annual activity this time of year where they decorate big refrigerator boxes and go to the old folks home so they can go "trick-or-treating". Dean had helped with the telephone booth for Young Mens, so we decided to dress Tanner up and go. It was SO fun. Next year we'll definitely make our own box as a family. We need to start brainstorming now. I love celebrating holidays, but especially when you can help other people enjoy it too. All the old folks LOVED Tanner. I was lucky to get out of there with him still in my arms. There was more than one offer to take him off my hands! We really had fun, and hopefully brightened some of their lives this Halloween as well. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Getting excited for....

Mom, Dad, and Jake (or Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Jake as the case may be) to come visit us TOMORROW!!! We are SO excited to have some of our family come visit. This will be our first visitors since we've moved and we can't wait for them to get here. I'm sure there will be lots of pictures and posts to come of the adventures we have planned over the next few days!

Family Photos

A week ago we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and the beautiful scenery to get some family pictures taken. We just took the camera and the tripod and did our best to capture some pictures all on our own. Obviously Tanner was not always cooperative, but I think they turned out pretty good considering. These were just taken at a local park (not quite like the parks in Utah). So far the park is one of my favorite things here in Pennsylvania. Anyway, here's a few of our favorites!
