A start...

I've started making a "quiet book" for Tanner and I guess if he's nice he can share with future siblings as well. It will probably be an ongoing project. Now that I've finished a few pages the drive to make more is much less, but once things slow down around here I'll add more pages and make the cover. It's kinda fun and Tanner definitely likes it so far. Some of it's a little over his head right now, but he sure enjoys pulling all the pieces off, even if he can't get them all back on in the right places yet. The hope is it will occupy him during Church and we'll fool everyone into thinking he's a perfect little angel! ;) So here's a peak at the first six pages...

p.s. Don't look too close, I'm well aware they aren't perfect! ;)

Ouch

Saturday Tanner fell and got his first scraped knee. He totally didn't even react at the time or even notice anything was wrong. Later as I put him in his high chair I saw he had scraped himself. Grandma Nelson got him a band-aid and fixed him up, and then for the next hour he moaned and groaned like he was going to die. Ha! What a little faker. He sure knows how to get attention and milk things for whatever he can get! He's sure a funny kid.

Gangsta

Tanner's been more like his old self today. Thank heavens!! We've been reading books, coloring, and what else...Rapping! He's a pretty good little rapper. Especially watch the end when you can hear HIM rapping...ENJOY!

I'm sure the suspense is killing everyone. We ordered bed number......................ONE! Thanks for all your advice. We were both kinda leaning towards that one to begin with and with a large majority of you choosing that one as well we decided to go for it. Sadly it takes a couple weeks for Wal-mart to get it in so until then the Tan-Man is sleeping on his mattress on the floor. It's a whole new ball park when your kid can get out of bed at night. I don't know that I was ready for that change yet, but I guess I don't really have a choice! Wish us luck with the transition! And thanks again for your help.

I want your opinion....

Dean's probably going to kill me cause he thinks it's rediculous that I would put this much thought into picking out a new bed for Tanner, but he'll just have to deal. Anyway, in light of Tanner's recent discovery that he can climb out of his crib we've been looking into a toddler bed. These are both the same price from Walmart, but I can't decide which one I like better. There's a good chance I'll be ordering this TODAY so hurry up and help me decide! Thanks!

Bed #2

Oh and please don't be offended if I don't pick the bed you suggest. Ha!

Recent News

Well first on the list of noteworthy happenings....

Tanner can officially climb out of his crib!
He did it for the first time on Saturday, and we thought maybe it was just a fluke and he'd forget. He also had bare feet and I thought for sure if he had socks on he couldn't climb as well. Last night he climbed out twice, so I guess he's got it down - with socks no less! He doesn't fall, or hurt himself, but that doesn't mean he won't at some point, so I guess it's time for a big boy bed. There's just no point to a crib if he can get out. He's only 16 months old!! This shouldn't be happening yet!

Second....
Summer is officially here -
we went swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Nelsons last week! (Mom and Dad's)
The water was only 78 degrees and Tanner's lips were purple, but he didn't seem to mind and he LOVED every minute of it. We got to swim with Janna too, so it was an all around good time!

Our little fishy - he seriously has NO FEAR of the water

Mom, Tanner and Janna coolin' off in the pool

Dad and the Tan-Man

Check out that grin

Please ignore how ugly I look but look how cute my boy is!

Thirdly....
Tanner has turned into a psycho who doesn't sleep, is afraid of his bed and likes to throw fits all the time.

Other than that life is good and despite the fact that it's summer and Dean's home all the time now we are still EXTREMELY busy and can't seem to get anything done with our crazy one year old around.

To my favorite Dad...

Well, you all know what a sucker a mom can be for pictures of her hubby and her kids. So because it is Father's Day and because I want to, here a few(ok maybe more than a few) pictures of my two favorite boys...

Tanner sure loves his Dad. I'll be home with him all day and his face never lights up like it does when Dad finally walks through the door. Dean, you are one amazing father! I'll admit when my water broke and I was going through labor that the big cheesy grin on your face was a bit annoying, but you were so excited to become a dad and you sure love Tanner. Thanks so much for all you do for us and for what a great Dad you've become! We love you!

Yard Sale Steal

This weekend we went yard sale-ing. We were hoping to pick up some items we need for the pioneer trek, but instead we ended up with a "new" entertainment center. It was $20 and fits our TV perfectly. It matches the piano, AND Tanner can't climb on it! Yay! Before we just had the TV on the coffee table and he was climbing all over it. Plus the table was starting to bend with the weight of the TV and we were nervous it would collapse someday with Tanner underneath it. We think it's a pretty nice/cheap improvement. Score!

Township Fair

Well last night we got a hankerin' to head on down to the Township Fair. We ate a bunch of fried food - fish sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and topped it off with a funnel cake. Yum! (We wanted cotton candy too, but after all that other stuff we decided to pass.) Tanner won a prize at the fish pond and took his FIRST ride on a MERRY-GO-ROUND. He LOVE love LOVED it and squealed the whole time. We caught a few minutes of the super classy (ok actually kinda white trash) tractor pull. Ha! This is where some very hairy men with cowboy boots and a tractor try to pull a big machine called the "Gold Digger" as fast as they can for a certain distance. I guess the one who does it the fastest wins. We didn't last long enough to find out! ;) Anyway, it made for a fun night. Topped off with a little bubble blowing, several times down the slide (Tanner can officially climb up and slide down all by himself), and a nice stroll down the street. Oh and the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup! Go Pens!

I'm married to Tim Taylor

Well, it happened again. It's only happened twice now in the three years we've been married, but I still think that's more often than the average person. Dean went to the emergency room last night. He had been working on refinishing a piano bench for our new piano. He was stripping it of the old stain/varnish with some chemical stripper and he got some in his eye. Well, the label says to flush your eye for 15 minutes and then get medical attention. Have you ever tried to flush your eye for that long!? Seriously! He said it burned pretty bad and he wasn't sure what to do. We didn't want to mess around with his vision, so we decided he should probably see a doctor. It was after 10 PM here so a trip to the emergency room with Tanner in-tow didn't sound like much fun. Dean's Dad was nice enough to step in and drive him to the hospital. They tested his eye for pH levels and it was definitely not where it should be. They hooked him up to a tube and flushed his eye with saline for over an hour and then had him see a specialist. The specialist said there should be no long term damage. He finally got home about 1:45 AM and we're glad that he did go to the hospital, and we're grateful everything turned out fine.

This whole thing brought back memories. We had only been married for 3 months when I got a message on my phone that went a little something like this..."Hey Andrea, this is Chantel (a co-worker when he was working maintenance). You need to pick Dean up from the emergency room...He cut his nipple." WHAT!? I had no idea he was even at the hospital. And his nipple!? How does that happen?? Well, I headed to the hospital and come to find out he cut his KNUCKLE not his nipple and a few stitches later he was just fine.

Anyway, tragedy avoided. He'll be REQUIRED to wear protective goggles from now on and hopefully it's another few years before we see the emergency room again.

We're on our way too....

It's going to be GREAT!

We're the proud new owners of....

A PIANO! It needs some serious tuning but other than that it's in pretty good shape. We feel so blessed to have this basically fall in our laps and we're excited to brush up on our piano skills. Some of us need a little more brushing up than others. ;)

Dean's big day...

Tuesday was Dean's 27th birthday. (I think we're young enough that we can still tell our age!) Since Dean had work and Young Mens in the evening we didn't get a ton of time to celebrate, but we managed to squeeze it in to the time we had. Dean got some mechanics coveralls, a new tie, gummy bears and gummy worms (a must for every holiday), Blokus, and lots of cards and birthday wishes from friends and family. Thanks everyone! Tanner and I sure love Dean and we're so glad he's our husband and dad! Hope you had a great day babe!

Tanner and Dean with all his spoils

Had to get a family shot - it doesn't happen much

Dean with his birthday door - and his coveralls - note that his name is even on them!

Dean even let Tanner help him blow out his candles - we had Strawberry Trifle at Dean's parents with Mom, Dad, Janna, Grandma and PapPap Furin.

Since Tuesday was such a crazy day Dean and I got to sneak away last night for dinner at Red Lobster. It was nice to get a night out with just the two of us. It doesn't happen as often as we'd like, but it's extra special when it does. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching Tanner!
