Our Backyard Frog

Superheroes, frogs, trucks, and toys there's nothing as wonderful as little boys.  Tonight Dean found a little frog in the backyard.  The boys were so excited about it.  Tanner and Braddock were even brave enough to hold him.  Unfortunately he hopped under the deck out of reach so we won't be keeping him for a pet.  Shucks! ;)

May's Night with Janna - Bowling

Tonight we got to head out to the bowling alley with Janna.  We hit a few kinks in the plan when the bowling alley we had planned to go to was closed.  And the back-up bowling alley was also closed, but third times the charm and we found one that was open.  There was hardly anyone there so we had the run of the place.  It was so much fun watching everyone bowl.  Landon won at 112, but Janna came in a close second scoring a whopping 100.  Then we of course had to swing by Brusters to finish the night off with some ice cream.  Thanks Janna, for giving us something to look forward to every month!

These two were super cute and insisted on helping each other out.

And the winner is....LANDON!

Memorial Day Picnic

One of our all time favorite activities of the year is our Ward's Memorial Day Picnic.  There's always tons of good food, a great turnout, and it always ends up in a big water fight.  This year we even added worm eating to the list.  Don't worry none of us were that nuts, but all the Missionaries and a few others did it.  I'm telling you things get crazy.  But that's the way we like it.

Sadie and Braddock.  They could be twins.

These cuties played in the creek for hours.
Tanner playing "Woodchuck" with his friends Jack, Kate, and Paige.

Dean was too big of a party pooper to join in on the water fun, so I hauled both boys in myself.
Braddock was a little upset with me afterward.

Braddock's (long awaited) Room Reveal

Just so you can see how far we've come, here's what Braddock's room used to look like. . .

We painted everything the same gray as his brother's room and made all the trim and doors white.  It has a loose airplane theme. I figured that after his airplane birthday I might as well incorporate the wooden airplanes into his room somehow. I love how everything turned out and it makes me happy every time I walk in there. Even better Braddock gets excited and points to everything on the walls and shelves. That makes it even better. So here we go. . .

I made these throw pillows for his rocking chair.  This is one of our favorite spots to read books, sings songs, and snuggle before bed time and naps.

I made this world map to add to the airplane theme.  I hope he gets the chance to explore this beautiful world we've been given.
I really wanted to mount a stuffed animal for his wall.  This stick horse ended up with a broken stick so he got the honors of living on the wall.
I scored these wooden monkeys at Salvation Army.
I thought of a great way to remind Braddock of his future goals and put Dean's old missionary tag to good use.  I LOVE how it turned out!
With a little help from Dean's technical skills we put together this airplane printable to remind him how loved he is.
Braddock ended up with the hand-me-down toy chest I painted for the boys a few years back, and the tool bench that's still a hit.
These wall shelves came from IKEA.  Dean had to cut them down a bit to get the perfect fit, and then  I got to work filling them with fun things.
I snagged the snail and the turtle from Goodwill and spray painted them for a more modern look.  Dean helped me make them into some seriously fun bookends.
This wooden dinosaur was a gift from Uncle Dan and Aunt Lesli back when Tanner was born.  The "I am a Child of God" printable is from here.
This adorable picture was a baby gift from my parents when Braddock was born.  I LOVE it.  And I love the sweet reminder for Braddock that Jesus loves him.
This cute printable was a gift from Melissa Sunday.  She even made it to match the colors of the room perfectly!
Braddock gets lots of use out of his play kitchen.  For more on that I posted all about it here.
For now even though he can climb out of his crib he doesn't, so we're leaving well enough alone.  But he has a blue painted toddler bed waiting for him when the time is right.
This dresser is from IKEA too.  We love it.  I took the picture of Braddock in his pilot-esque aviators and mounted it to a canvas and then finished it off with texture cream.  Lots cheaper than an actual canvas wrap print and looks just as good.
And last but not least his little airplane mobile flying over his bed.  We secured everything really well so it shouldn't ever fall on him.  He loves finding and pointing to airplanes in the sky so now he can do it as he drifts off to sleep.

His room also got a new closet door, new blinds, new light from IKEA, new rug from IKEA, and is finally done and checked off the list!  Yay for finished projects.

A quick trip to the park. . .

Friday night the boys were begging to ride their bikes. We don't have a great place outside of the road to ride them at home and they're not good enough at riding, or old enough to really send them in the road.  So we made a quick decision to grab a pizza and head to the park with our bikes in tow.  It made for the perfect evening together as a family.

Someone high-jacked his big brothers bike.  He thinks he's way bigger than he is.  I guess that's the consequence of being the third child.

Tanner caught a caterpillar earlier this week but it was small enough that it managed to escape his bug box.  He had apparently been praying to find a new one, and this little guy was an answer to a sweet boy's prayer.

Landon's really good at going from this, to this within a matter of minutes.  Nothing a little tickle torture couldn't fix.
